Margie Clinton

My dream is:  to live my life, love my family, leave the world and the people in it a bit better than when I arrived, and hopefully inspire others to do the same.

Where I work: Microsoft

What I do: At work I help computer geeks think about and design software for normal people.  At home, I spend time with my husband, 3 ½ year old daughter, get ready for our next daughter (due Jan 07), and think about how to improve our garden.

Born in: Denver, Colorado, US

Grew up in: Several places in the western US (California, Hawaii, Colorado, Washington)

Living in: Sammamish, Washington

I love: family, talking, nature

Why I support Dreamfly: There is a lot of need throughout the world (environment, education, local, global, child welfare, animal welfare, arts, etc) and I try to balance my giving (both of time and money) across the spectrum of needs. Education is a particular interest because I know education can make a material difference to individuals’, families’, and communities’ lives. When I think about how much I benefited from my education and as I  think about the education opportunities I want my children to have, I am keenly aware that many children do not have the same opportunities. Dreamfly stands out among education efforts for several reasons: it’s a local grassroots effort, the holistic approach, the drive for gender equality, the practicality of the curriculum—it is about educating for jobs, vocations, or higher education, not just for the sake of “education”. But mostly, I like that Dreamfly gives me a chance to do something beyond my immediate world and allows me to see the dramatic and personal impact of those efforts.
