dreamfly
pakistan
In 2007, we started working on building a
primary school in Akri, a small village in rural
Pakistan. We met our goal
of raising $150,000 for our first dreamfly
school and it started operation in fall 2008. 8
students showed up on the first day of school. A
year later, we have 200 1st and 2nd grade
students coming to school every day! See
pictures of the school and the children
right from the beginning to our latest summer
camp earlier in Aug 2009.
*
A key goal for dreamfly is to work with high
integrity local non-profits to ensure ongoing
quality of education. In Pakistan, our partner
is
The Citizens Foundation
(TCF). With over 600 schools already operational
in Pakistan, TCF's commitment to results and
good education with a focus on interactive
learning and critical thinking is unrelenting.
*
In total, $150,000 was required to construct the
dreamfly akri campus, furnish it, stock its
library with books and school equipment, build
and equip a computer lab for the kids and cover
the first year of operational costs.
We've been successful in doing all - with your
support.
* We've paid special attention to having a
school floor plan that's airy, spacious with
plenty of room for our kids to run around,
study, indulge in school activities and learn
new sports and games. We have also accommodated
for future plans of constructing a high school
building next to the primary school building
* Teachers are trained every year to ensure
high quality
* Recently we added a computer lab to the
school. The children are using Sesame Street
software to learn alphabet and colors etc in a
fun interactive way.
* This summer, we organized summer camp and
handed the children a digital camera so they
could show us the world as they see it. We'll be
posting their photos online very soon!
* This school is a tremendous accomplishment
for everyone who's supported it. This is just
the beginning. On to the next school and the
next 100 children - this time in Afghanistan.

* Once our dreamfly Pakistan children are
ready for secondary school, we'll focus our
attention to building it for them so they can
have a disruption free education till the time
they graduate to college.
